Microsoft’s Xbox One was able to sell more than competitors Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 on Black Friday in the UK, although sales were lower than last year’s Black Friday. As reported by GamesIndustry, more than 100,000 Xbox One consoles have been sold, with Xbox One S All-Digital Edition proving to be the most successful Stock Keeping Unit (SKU). Their sales, in fact, have also seen the games that come along with sales on the UK weekly software charts.
The Switch was the second console, but supposedly by a very small margin. Offers and retail packages (and the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, no doubt) saw the system racking up impressive sales. In fact, based on revenue rather than units sold, Switch actually came first, because of the prices that were sold because they were higher than Xbox Ones. Switch also had an extremely successful weekend of the year. Black Friday in the USA.
The PS4 sold over 60,000 units, losing to the other two by a significant margin, with FIFA 20 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare adding sales. Sales of PS4 and Xbox One fell year after year, while year-to-date sales for both were also declining. The Switch, meanwhile, continues to rise.
Xbox One sales fell 35% year-to-date and PS4 fell 45% year-to-date. The Nintendo Switch, as the latest product, is trending over 13% over the previous year.
