Overwatch and Diablo are about to become cartoons, or at least that’s what is deduced from the LinkedIn profile of the co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios.
Overwatch and Diablo are about to become cartoons. This is what can be deduced from the LinkedIn profile of Activision Blizzard Studios co-president Nick van Dyk.
Nick van Dyk is the co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios and previously he was the producer of the original animated series Netflix Skylanders Academy. A role that should make him more than prepared for what his company is doing in the cinematographic field. For this reason, finding on his LinkedIn profile indications of unannounced productions is very strange, but it is a very interesting fact.
Reading the description of what Van Dyk did within Activision, we discover that Diablo is getting an “anime-style” adaptation very similar to what was done with Castlevania. By the way, do you know that Castlevania season 3 is out? Diablo’s anime is currently in pre-production and will be released worldwide through Netflix. There has been talked of this adaptation for some time, but what emerged today seems like a rather official confirmation. The pre-production status indicates, however, that there are still several months before the release of the anime.
Van Dyk also said that “he developed and sold an animated series based on Overwatch by Blizzard “. Since so far nothing has been announced about this series and we don’t even know who the buyer may have been, we cannot make any other considerations on the matter. We can only say that Overwatch, over the years, has often enriched its lore with CGI animated shorts, including the cinematic trailer of the Overwatch 2. And then an adaptation of the cartoon would be nothing short point.
Activision, of course, has not commented, but we’ll let you know if there will be updates.
Activision is also working on a film of Call of Duty, even if it was just announced that it is no longer a priority. to direct the film should be Italian director Stefano Sollima, who is in talks with Activision.
Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 are currently in development at Blizzard and an animated series to accompany their launch would be nothing short of perfect.
