“I am pleased to see that fans have enjoyed Shenmue III, but it must be clear that this is not a product intended for a mass audience,” said Wingefors during an investor meeting.

“We are talking about a niche game, and this is the real challenge, but from a financial point of view it has done well”, added the CEO of Embracer Group, referring in this case to the sales of the Yu Suzuki title.

The official report states that Shenmue 3 was the main source of revenue for Deep Silver in the last fiscal quarter, followed by Let’s Sing 2020. Metro Exodus also contributed to the results, along with Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Outward.

In short, it seems that the third chapter of the series born on Dreamcast has done better than expected, especially considering the methods of financing the project. The possibility of seeing a new episode, therefore, appears concrete.
