Android 11 Developer Preview is out! Here are the innovations

While there were dozens of phones waiting in line to get the Android 10 update released in September, a surprise move came from Google about Android 11. While the first preview of the Android versions is usually released in March, Google released its Android 11 Developer Preview this year.

Android 10 presented many innovations in the user interface, especially in the dark mode. However, we do not expect to see a big change on Android 11. More details will be revealed at the Google I / O event in May.

What does Android 11 Developer Preview offer?

First of Android 11 features: “ one-time permission ” option for applications that want to access location, microphone and camera data. Google only allowed you to allow an app while running on Android 10 version, while it will be possible to grant one-time permissions on the new version of Android.

As with every Android version, there are changes in the notification panel. This time, it is stated in Google’s notification panel that users can instantly access their ongoing calls in messaging applications that they use frequently. However, there is currently no screenshot showing how this works.

Bubbles will become popular in the API with this new version of Android. As can be understood from the expression “ Bubble ” in the Turkish version, when the messaging applications that support this API are placed in the background, small bubbles showing the profile picture of the users remain on the screen.

“ Scoped Storage ”, which was introduced with Android 10 and prevents the applications from seeing outside the space allocated to them, will be used more actively in this version. In addition, Google adds more system-level components to Project Mainline in this release, allowing a larger portion of the system to be updated through the Google Play Store without the need for Android updates.

Laying the basis for the mobile driving license period with smartphones, Android 11 will be able to securely store secure identity documents such as ISO 18013-5 compliant mobile driving license. In this way, if you live in an area where this service is used in the coming years, you will not need to carry a driver’s license.

In addition to all this, Google, which wanted to make the work of the developers easier, created the ” application compatibility ” page in Android 11 version. Instead of setting a new target SDK and recompiling to test your application, opening the application compatibility page will be enough for you to observe the process.

Of course, there are many unexplained innovations, from foldable-screen phones to improving 5G support. This version is targeted directly at the developers, so the changes affecting the end user are not fully mentioned. For this, it is necessary to wait for Google I / O 2020. Those who have Pixel 2 and newer devices need to install this version manually.
