“The virus is very fast and our leaders too slow”


The colombian singer Shakira Isabel Mebarak, or simply Shakira, turned to their social networks to send a message about the pandemic coronavirus that is plaguing the world and said that “this virus is very fast and our leaders too slow”.

The barranquilla criticized the politicians are putting economic interests above the health of its citizens and taking too long to take effective measures to curb the spread of the virus.

Shakira, who is in quarantine in Spain together with her partner, the footballer Catalan Gerard Pique, and their children Sasha and Milan, called for “all countries to collaborate in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO) to implement a coordinated plan and international levels.”

“In countries that for now have few cases, they should learn from the mistakes that we are paying in the european countries where the measures were taken too late”, he added.

The colombian artist, called upon all world leaders “to implement 15 days of social distancing end, the closure of schools and public places where people gather, to flatten this curve of contagion and prevent the spread of the virus, especially in countries that are not prepared to offer medical care, such as in Latin America and Africa”.

Shakira he exhorted his followers from all over the world to stay at home for 15 days to curb this pandemic and to “protect the most needy, the sick, the elderly and vulnerable people”.

Spain is the second most affected country in the western world, with 21 571 cases of infection and 1 093 deceased. In the last 24 hours was recorded the alarming figure of more than 200 who died from coronavirus.
