A patient Russian of 45 years of age passed away in the early hours of Thursday in Cuba because of the coronavirus.
As explained in press conference the minister of Health, Jose Angel Portal, the patient was suffering from diabetes mellitus, and had several days in critical condition.
It is a Russian citizen who arrived in the country the 12 of march from France. Day 20 began with symptoms and the next day he was transferred by the authorities of the hotel where he was staying to the main Clinic “Cira García”, from where he was referred to the Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kourí (IPK), in Havana.
In this institution was confirmed as positive COVID-19, and the doctors assured that her state of health was “critical stable”.
Today, the authorities confirmed 10 new cases of hiv infections in Cubawhich raises the number of patients with coronavirus 67 in the country.
Of the 67 patients diagnosed two continue to be reported in a critical state.
One is a cuban of 38 years was admitted in the Hospital “Octavio de la Concepción and Pedraja”, who came to the country on the 13th of march, from Italy, and who presents with a pneumonia of the right base.
The other case in a critical state is a patient cuban of 67 years was admitted in the IPK, who have high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and ischaemic heart disease, Presents a guarded prognosis.
The new cases are a citizen, cuban-49 years of age, resident in the La Lisa municipality, province of Havana, who was in contact with the canadian citizen that was positive to the disease. Also, it turned out positive a Russian citizen 48 years of age, who arrived in the country on the 12th of march from France.
Other cases are a citizen cuban, 55 years of age, resident in the municipality of Old Havana, who arrived in the united States; a cuban of 76 years, the Plaza municipality, province of Havana; a cuban of 36 years of age, of Matanzas; a cuban of 44 years also of Matanzas; a cuban of 31 years of age, resident in the municipality of Cárdenas, Matanzas, who arrived in the country on march 21 from Guyana; a cuban of 44 years also of Cardenas, who came from Marseilles, France; a cuban of 37 years of age, resident in the municipality Placetas, province of Villa Clara, from Miami; another cuban, 85 years of age, resident in the municipality of Morón, in Ciego de Ávila, who arrived from Orlando, united States.
Except for the critical cases, the rest of the patients present a clinical course stable.
However, a total of one thousand 603 patients (148 foreign and 455 thousand cubans) are admitted for clinical surveillance – epidemiological centres of isolation.
Other 36 thousand 056 people are kept under surveillance in their homes.
The medical authorities of the Island reported that up to now, there have been 893 samples to detect the COVID-19, of which have been positive the 67 cases accumulated so far.
