Thenstagram is testing of new features linked to a the new policy the purpose of which is to enhance the “psychological well-being” of the users. Specifically, you can no longer see the like: “In reality, the owners of the account can still see the like – explained the head of the social network, Adam Mosseri – but no one else can see it. We decided to do this for the young people. The idea is to ‘depressurize’ Instagram, i.e. make it less competitive and give users more space to focus on the contact with the people you love and with things that are a source of inspiration for their”.
Many people, however, do not agree with this new policy, like for example the rapper Nicki Minajthat is convinced that these new rules will hurt the artists for which, you know, the like count for much. The model has thus decided to boycott Instagram not posting anything on his account in a sign of protest.
“I will not publish anything on IG because they have decided to remove the like – did you know the singer on Twitter – what should I devote my time now? I think of all the time I have with my new life. This situation is not what that smaller companies will face – stressed – but it’s about why the big companies are doing this. This is because the musicians make no money. The labels and the streaming platforms know what to say to make us feel good, while they continue to make real money”.
According to the rapper the interpreter of “Anaconda,” therefore, this new policy of Instagram would have nothing to do with the desire to create a social where the competition does not affect too much the users, but rather would encompass a strategy brought forward by the big companies to the detriment of smaller ones, and from the record labels to the detriment of the artists.
