Users of social networks have been extremely surprised to be know that the The Latin Grammys have included three new categories for the next edition which will be held in 2020, one of which is intended to reward the best of the genre reggaeton.

You might not know but last year the Grammys Latino were involved in a big scandal after several singers in the genre of urban created the campaign “Without Reggae NO Grammys” for the discomfort that caused him not to have been considered in any of their categories.

But all seem to indicate that the pressure exerted by singers of international stature such as Daddy Yankee, Maluma, Bad Bunny, Natti Natasha and many others gave results as in recent days it was announced that the Latin Grammy awards will include three new categories to reward the best of reggaeton, pop/rock and hip-hop/rap.

The ceremony last year took place without any problems but the academy has wanted to reconsider the requests of reggaetón and through a press release made known that this issue would be recognized the best of pop/rock, hip-hop/rap and of course reggaeton.

  • Best Interpretation Reggaeton
  • Best Song Pop/Rock
  • Best Rap Song/Hip-Hop

  • “Following our mission to nurture and elevate Latin music and its creators, and after numerous meetings and feedback from our members, we are delighted that our Board of Trustees have approved certain changes to our process Prizes, including the creation of new categories”, reported the academy.

With this modification, the chances of artists in the genre of urban Bad Bunny, Maluma, J Balvin, Daddy Yankee among others can be recognized for your work in the next edition, which until now they do not have an exact date of its celebration.
