Beware of SPOILERS!
‘The Good Doctor’, the series starring a brilliant surgeon played by Freddie Highmore, scheduled to premiere its fourth season in the fall of 2020. After his return, things will have changed, because two of their main actors have left the series. We talk about Nicholas Gonzalez and Jasika Nicole, who play the Doctor Neil Melendez and Dr. Carly Lever, respectively. In addition, a third party could join them because the third season left an end open for the character, to the interpretation of Will Yun Lee, who hinted to leave the Hospital of San Jose also.
In an interview for TVLine, Gonzalez said that the decision to leave was a purely creative and that there was no kind of controversy behind her. “There are many things that I had the honor of doing in this job that I loved, and a lot of this all came about thanks to the family that we created behind the scenes. But also there comes a time where you feel that you have to keep going and I think I’m going Good Doctor at a very good time”, said the actor.
The farewell of Melendez is as emotional as it was during one of the last episodes, Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) and Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) discovered that has a number of internal injuries irreparable damage caused by the earthquake to which they were exposed, so that, although able to undergo surgery, their survival is not guaranteed. Although Gonzalez abandons the fiction on good terms, he admitted that it was “a bit early” for your character.
In terms of Nicole, her departure should not pillarnos by surprise. After Dr. Shaun broke up with her weeks ago, it seems that he began to smooth things over with Leah (Paige Spara), with whom he would try to have a relationship that would leave Carly out of hand. “I would love to have it here and there. I love Jasika, and I’d love to see her in the series, but will not be in the same way”said the showrunner, David Shore, about Nicole.
And… what about Will Yun Lee?
While treating a young patient in one of the last episodes, Dr. Alex Park, played by Lee, you realize that you need to spend more time with his family, what da think about his exit from ‘The Good Doctor’. Even so, you will continue seeing in the fourth season.
“The short answer is that we do not plan to lose the series. But that has been the challenge for Park, who is dealing with your commitments to your work and your personal life, a challenge that we all face but that is more dramatic still, when you’re saving lives and at the same time your family is thousands of miles away from you”said Shore to TVLine.
What we are sure of is that will have to go mentalizándonos to not see Nicole or Gonzalez next fall.
