The best and the worst of Quibi, the new app series for the cell

What is Quibi? It is an app that can be downloaded on the cell phone and for a monthly membership allows you to view series whose episodes last for a maximum of 10 minutes each.

Who is behind the app? The famous producer Jeffrey Katzenberg (former Disney and DreamWorks) and Meg Whitman (former ceo of eBay) managed investments by 1,750 million dollars to develop the project and produce original content.

How many series you have in your catalog? The launch was this Monday with 50 series and in the first year will be 175 new.

How do you renew your content? Each day there are three hours of additional content. As the episodes last between 6 and 10 minutes, are at least 20 new chapters each day.

How much does it cost? It costs $ 8 (without advertising) and 5 dollars (with short notices) per month. Anyway, you can test without charge for 90 days. If the proposal does not satisfy you, you can unsubscribe without having paid a penny.

What technical features does it have? The design of the app and the quality of the streaming are optimal. All the contents are subtitled in Spanish. The series can be viewed with the cell in vertical or in horizontal, and in some cases it is possible to change the point of view of the characters in different scenes. As with other services, the episodes can be downloaded to view them without wifi or without 4G at any time.

What stars have shows on Quibi? Idris Elba, Chance the Rapper, Chrissy Teigen, Liam Hemsworth, Queen Latifah and Christoph Waltz are part of the catalog service. Jennifer Lopez and Reese Witherspoon produced series. Guillermo del Toro and Steven Spielberg are some of the directors devoted that work on projects for Quibi.

What are the main contents? Quibi has fiction series, documentaries, talk shows, reality shows, news, contests and other entertainment, always with short episodes (what is important, therefore, is the concept, the impact or the effectiveness of a sketch). Here we propose a tour of 20 of the titles available or soon to launch.

Most Dangerous Game. Dodge (Liam Hemsworth) is an entrepreneur and athlete who is about to be a father (his wife is Sarah Gadon). Practically in bankruptcy, to make matters worse you are diagnosed with a terminal cancer, and in the midst of this situation, it is summoned by a broker (Christoph Waltz) who offers to become part of a manhunt throughout the city of Detroit (with a few millionaires as hunters, and he as a dam, of course). The initial reaction, of course, is rejection, but anyway their days are numbered, and the participation could leave a fortune to your family as you achieve to survive for a long time (the reward reaches 24.5 million dollars to resist 24 hours). A haunting, fable, dystopian against the cynicism of wild capitalism.

Survive. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones) is Jane, a young woman with suicidal tendencies after the traumas suffered after a family tragedy, who is a patient in an institution along with other patients who suffer from psychiatric disorders ends. Transposition of the homonymous book by Alex Morel.

Chrissy”s Court. Chrissy Teigen is the judge in small cases real that she must kill off from his particular sense of humor. Her husband John Legend has a cameo.

Dishmantled. Tituss Burgess is the host of the competition between two chefs who -after tasting a dish while blindfolded – they should recreate it in a more precise manner and in the shortest possible time.

Promise. Documentary about an ambitious project of free and public education is conceived and financed by the star of the NBA LeBron James in Akron, Ohio.

Murder House Flip. The misadventures of two designers that they have to recycle a property in Sacramento where they have committed serial killings.

Nightgowns. The documentary series follows Sasha Velour, winner of the program RuPaul”s Drag Race, during the process of conceiving an ambitious show of drag queens in New York city.

Nikki Fre$h. A sort of reality show (with some situations guionadas) on the life of Nicole Richie (The Simple Life, Great News).

Punk’d. In this new version of the MTV reality that had Ashton Kutcher as host, Chance the Rapper is the protagonist of a proposal as chaotic as bizarre.

Singled Out. Another show of MTV that landed on Quibi with an idea reformulated. Keke Palmer is now the driver of this irreverent reality show about dating.

Thanks a Million. Various celebrities give away $ 100,000 to people unknown who have generated an impact in their lives, these must then deliver 50,000 to others that are later distributed to 25,000, and so on. Jennifer Lopez (producer of the project) begins the chain and then continue in other episodes from Kevin Hart to Nick Jonas.

When the Streetlights Go On. Rebecca Thomas (Stranger Things) directs this police with Queen Latifah set in 1995 in a small town with a hell very large.

50 States of Fright. Stories based on urban legends (of terror, of course) of Michigan, Kansas, Oregon, Minnesota and Florida.

Water Donkeys. MP Cunningham and Jeremy Jackson play two pileteros that have all sorts of mishaps when you have to deal with the maintenance of swimming pools in Utah. Based on a popular short film.

Barkitecture. A show dedicated exclusively to the houses of… dogs. Architecture of cuchas.

Elba vs. Block | Photo Quibi

Elba vs. Block. The popular Idris Elba faces a professional racer, rally, Ken Block, in this series of eight episodes intended for the public nut.

Fierce Queens. Heartwarming stories of animals in a documentary produced and narrated by Reese Witherspoon.

The Fugitive. After the series of the decade of 1960 and the movie in 1993 with Harrison Ford, the story is recycled, now with Boyd Holbrook as an ex convict wrongly accused of the explosion of a train in Los Angeles. Kiefer Sutherland is the police officer who has to catch him.

Shape of Pasta. Another show for food, in this case led by chef Evan Funke, and with the industry, traditions and recipes related to pasta in Italy as the axis.

Flipped: Delirious comedy of errors with two protagonists narcissistic (Will Forte and Kaitlin Olson) , to which will be added after Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria (as members of a cartel of drug traffickers). Produced by Funny or Die.
