Rock in Rio Lisbon is suspended until 2021 by coronavirus

This Thursday, organizers of Rock in Rio Lisbon, scheduled for the days 20, 21, 27 and 28 June next, announce that the event is postponed a year due to the coronavirus.

Also; added, that rely on the edition of 2021 to be “more magical and special.”

Move the event, which had already confirmed the performances of the british group, Duran Duran, the american Black Eyed Peas and the Foo Fighters; it is a decision that comes after “days studying a number of scenarios,” says the organization in a press release.

“Of the several options evaluated, all would return to the assembly of the City of Rock, which rises in the Park of Bela Vista in Lisbon, in a moment that we believe that we still will not be favorable, so we made the decision to alter the dates”, she explains.

The statement specifies that “Rock in Rio Lisboa is to be held finally the days 19, 20, 26 and 27 June 2021; and resume your usual schedule when you schedule your next edition in 2022, “not leaving even space for the nostalgia, and revisiting the festival in even-numbered years”.

Tickets already sold for the postponed edition of this year will continue to be valid to 2021, adds the organisation.

It is worth noting, that Rock in Rio Lisbon, considered as the biggest event of music and entertainment in the world; has behind him 20 editions in Rio, Lisbon, Madrid and Las Vegas.

The latest edition in the Portuguese capital is held in 2018, and brought together 278.000 people, a figure that the makers hoped to at least match next June with artists such as the cuban-american Camila Hair, brazilian Ivette Sangalo and Anitta or the british Liam Gallagher, ex-Oasis.
