The musician-soul Bill Withers passed away of heart complications at age 81, the singer-songwriter was in Los Angeles to his death, as was announced by his family.
Through a statement his wife, Marcia Johnson, and their children Todd and Kori, shared: “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved and devoted husband and father. A lonely man with a heart powered by to connect with the world in general, with poetry and music, he spoke honestly with the people and connected with one another,” they wrote.
“A life as private as he lived close to family and intimate friends, his music will always belong to the world. In this difficult time, we pray for your music to provide comfort and entertainment while fans cling to their loved ones,” concluded the statement.
The musician us with his voice and guitar had great success in the seventies and eighties, Bill was singing genres such as soul, blues, funk ysmooth soul. Some of his greatest songs were Lean On me (1972), Lovely Day (1977), ” Ain’t No Sushine (1971), Grandma’s Hand’s (1971), Use Me (1972), Just The Two Of us (1981), In the Name Love (1984) and Harlem (1973), among others.
