the new recommendations on the use of masks

The CDC recommend the use of face cloths made of fabric.

There are many studies in progress on the new coronavirus, so that, as they move through the weeks of the pandemic, the recommendations of hygiene and protection are updated; such is the case of the use of a mask or covers of fabric for the face.

From that came the outbreak of the virus in the world, agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the united States have suggested that the masks should only be used by people infected with hiv.

This is because, to cover the mouth and nose prevents the person suffering from the disease, spread the microorganisms that contain SARS-CoV-2.

Previously, the health specialists do not recommend that healthy people wear masks as a protective measure and urged that this implement was only to those who had resulted positive for coronavirus, people with symptoms and health personnel.

However, the CDC is now urging that the use of this barrier of protection is widespread, due to high registration of cases asymptomatic and presymptomatic able to spread.

“Now we know, thanks to recent studies, that a significant number of people with coronavirus do not have symptoms (“asymptomatic”), and that even those who at some time will present (“presymptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing these symptoms,” they explained on their website.

In this way, the use of masks and social distancing measures can reduce the curve of propagation.

“This means that the virus can spread between people who are interacting very close to one another —for example, when talking, coughing or sneezing— even if those people are not showing symptoms,” says the us agency.

However, the CDC emphasizes that the use of face cloths of fabric between the population, this is due to the shortage of surgical face masks medical that has been registered in several countries and has affected the doctors and nurses.

“The fabric covers for the face recommended are not the surgical masks or N-95 respirators, which are essential supplies and will need to continue to reserve for the health care workers and other members of the medical staff for response, as recommended by the current guidelines of the CDC,” outlines on its website.
