Madrid, April 13 (EuropaPress).- Due to the pandemic coronavirus and its rapid expansion, there are many film and television productions that have been forced to postpone their filming, many of them with no specific date of return. But the director James Gunnworking on two big projects simultaneously, remains optimistic, and believes that their upcoming films from both Marvel as DC will keep their release date.

Gunn is currently working on the DC Universe in the sequel to/reboot of Suicide Squad (Suicide Squad), a project in which is involved after your temporary layoff of Disney and that will bring back some of the characters from the first installment, as Harley Quinn Margot Robbie, and will include new faces such as Taika Waititi, Idris Elba and Peter Capaldi among others. With premiere dated August 6, 2021, the director has stated that the date still stands.

“At this time, there is no reason for the release date The Suicide Squad change” , explained Gunn on Twitter. “We are on time or ahead of schedule. We were extremely fortunate to finish the shoot and be able to set up the edition from our homes (due to a team of post production and study from home) before the quarantine.”

However, although the filming was able to complete before the pandemic COVID-19, and the studio is already working on the post production, the quarantine itself has delayed other aspects of the film, so it seems unlikely that promotional materials, such as posters and trailers, see the light soon.

The Marvel Universe has had to modify several of its release dates due to the delay of Black Widow, and although the Vol. 3 you do not yet have a release date official, Gunn ensures that production plans remain the same.

“At this time, plans for the Vol. 3 they are exactly the same before the coronavirus,” replied the filmmaker, in another tweet responding to a fan who was asking about the future of Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket and company.

The delay of Black Widow from may until November of 2020 has forced Disney to delay the rest of pitches of the UCM, including The Eternals (February 12, 2021), Shang-Chi (May 7, 2021) or Thor: Love and Thunder (February 18, 2022), among others. All these releases correspond to Phase 4 of Marvel. But according to the words of Gunn, Phase 5, at least for the moment, follow the plans before the arrival of the COVID-19.
