Ford Mustang is celebrating its birthday number 56 recalling their films most iconic

This April 17, Ford Mustang meet 56-year-old, then that on this day, in 1964, was officially presented at the New York World’s Fair. And although it is not the time to get behind the wheel, yes you may remember her role as a movie star.

Especially since the iconic model celebrates two milestones of global sales, as sports more sold of the world and, for the fifth time, as a sports coupe more sold.

The year 2019 also marks the fifth year in a row that Mustang was sporty coupe sold in the world. Coupes sports, according to the definition of IHS Markit, include models of two-doors and convertibles.

That is what has become a key player not only in the streets but also in the film.

James Bond: Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), Diamonds Are Forever (1971)

The film is based on the video game series of the same name. Need for Speed obviously needed a mega-star of the motor to move the main character to his redemption, and that machine was a Mustang.

On the tape appears a Shelby GT500 Super Snake 2013. Not as a spoiler, in the final scene before the credits, the Mustang GT 2015 also makes act of presence. Fans of this model will also be able to recognize in one of the scenes, that the movie that plays at the drive-in is the pursuit of MCQueen in Bullitt.

John Wick (2014) John Wick 2 (2017)

When it comes to movies explosive killers, rude, series John Wick is one of the best of the modern era. Its protagonist is Keanu Reeves, and the model chosen was the Mustang Mach 1 of 1969, a car that coincides with the explosive reputation of Wick, quick-action and decisive.

Directed by Chad Stahelski (The Matrix), John Wick and its first sequel will focus on revenge that you want to arrange a hired killer retired for the theft of his car and murder his dog. So iconic is the car that the shop that receives the Mustang stolen recognizes the model and his owner, refusing to change the VIN for fear of the legendary brutality of John Wick. The next hour of film, followed by the first few minutes of the sequel, recreates the recovery of Mustang.

This is not the first time that Keanu Reeves drives a Mustang classic for a movie. In Point Break, 1991, took the wheel of a Mustang Mach 1 from 1970, is quite similar to your Mustang John Wick. Keanu Reeves said that he did 90% of his stunts in the film, which, presumably, means that he himself carried out some of these incredible movements of driving.

Ford vs Ferrari/Le Mans ’66 (2019)

Why a story about Le Mans sneaks into this list of movies? Lee Ioccoca, which came to be known as the “Father of the Mustang”, plays a critical role in getting that Carroll Shelby gave life to some of the best machines of the Ford.

Based on the true story of Shelby, the pilot Ken miles and his trip to Le Mans with the Ford GT40; this movie, double Oscar winner, it has excellent performances, and sequences of dramatic racing that will keep you gripped until the checkered flag. Once you’ve marked your list of “should I see”.
