THE Originals stems from my passion for Hip-Hop, tattoos, and Chicano culture of Los Angeles ” says Sebastian Ortega, artistic director of Underground Content, who produced the documentary with Brian Maya and Francisco Pugliese for Netflix in association with SA Studios. “This documentary allowed me to meet two of the artists that you most admire in the world @misterctoons @estevanoriol . We share the same passion for chicano culture, low riders, tattoos, and hip hop,” said Ortega.

The documentary tells the story of the life and career of the photographer Estevan Oriol –who also directs – and the “tattoo artist of the stars”: Mister Cartoon. At the beginning of the 1990s, the artists were installed as SA Studios in a warehouse complex at the edge of the area for skating in downtown Los Angeles, it was there where they began to promote a cultural movement.

The list of interviews and cameos throughout the documentary includes major figures, such as: Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kobe Bryant, Michelle Rodriguez, Ryan Phillipe, Cypress Hill, Travis Barker and Blink 182, Kim Kardashian, 50 Cent, Eva Longoria, Pharrell Williams, Danny Trejo, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, among others.
