Los Angeles (US), 21 apr (EFE).- Chris Pine negotiates to star in a new version of “The saint”, directed by Dexter Fletcher (“Rocketman”), which is based on the novel of the same name about Simon Templar has brought to the big screen and television on several occasions during the last century.
Now, from this version on, the studies of Paramount are waiting to start a franchise of films based on the lead character, moved on Tuesday to several specialized media.
“The holy one” came up with a series of novels by Leslie Charteris published in 1928), which traced the travels in the world of Simon Templar, a criminal who works by commission with a moral similar to that of Robin Hood and uses different disguises to hide on their missions.
The adventures of the book inspired movies, novels, radio, comic books, and appearances on television as the british television series in which Roger Moore embodied the protagonist between 1962 and 1969.
It is also brought to the big screen with a series of films released between 1938 and 1953, in addition to two films by French and a great production in 1997 with Val Kilmer in the role of “The saint”.
In the new installment, Pine would be interpreted by the mythical character under the direction of Fletcher, who worked on “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018) and directed “Rocketman” (2019).
Previously Chris Pratt is interested in the role but the negotiations ultimately failed.
In the television series, Roger Moore conquered the international audience and gave popularity to the character of Simon Templar, symbolized by the arching of his left eyebrow every time he looked up to see the white halo distinguished from the saints, before the beginning of the soundtrack.
When, in 1997, Kilmer took up the role in the tape that he orchestrated Hollywood production grossed some $ 120 million and included the own Moore to lend her voice in one scene.
