Joe Russo hopes that Tom Holland to win an Oscar for his new film

If someone has everything accommodated to succeed, that would be Tom Holland. The young actor has not even 25 years old and is already one of the stars most popular and demanded features in the industry. All because of being chosen as the most recent Spider-Man in the Marvel movies, but is there talent behind all that fame? The director Joe Russo, for her new movie, Cherry, says that she gives a performance worthy of the Oscar.

In an interview with Comic Bookthe director Joe Russo, co-director of Avengers: Infinity War – 79%, and Avengers: Endgame – 95%, revealed that he is very impressed with the performance of Tom Holland in his new movie, Cherry. The film is, again, a collaboration between him and his brother, Anthony Russo, and a drama very strong on a drug addict. This was what you told the director about the young star:

I think that it is a performance worthy of the Oscar. It seems to Me that is incredibly wonderful in it. Gives an interpretation that remains in the stomach. What makes with himself, emotionally and physically, it is mind-boggling. We have not seen an actor in a role well in a good time. The film takes place over the course of a decade, is complemented with a performance epic. And it’s one that I hope is in the conversation for Oscar nominations.

Cherrythat is based on a novel semi-biographical of the same name, is the story of a young doctor in the military that when you return to the united States develops an addiction to opioids due to post-traumatic stress from his service. This dependence leads him to acquire a large debt, which is settled by the theft, serial to banks. The protagonist is played by Holland in a new role dramatic —let’s remember her work in The Impossible – 81%, of J. A. Bayona—, after the Marvel movies.

I would have to take caution with the comment of Russo’s, not only because it is his film, but because it also said in the past that, by Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. deserved to be nominated for the Academy award. The film will also be the first that will be next to his brother after the mammoth task of completing the tapes of superheroes largest of recent years. So the pressure to see if they can get out of that box is important.

Holland, who still will come back for a couple of films like Spidey, also was already chosen to give life to Nathan Drake, the protagonist of Uncharted, film based on the video game of the same name, about an explorer and mercenary who is dedicated to search for treasures all over the world. That tape, like that of the hero, spider, is in development and has no start date due to the contingency.

Cherry is still in post-production. In that same interview, Russo reveals that they are finishing up the editing along with your editor from a distance while kept in isolation. They expect that in the following weeks the court is ready and can start working on the sound and the soundtrack. In such a way that the film is ready for the end of the year and just in time to compete in the awards season that we will see in the next year.
