Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Serena Williams, launched an exhibition tournament with players such as the Italian Fabio Fognini and belgian David Goffin, which will be held in may at the facilities of its academy.
The australian Alexei Popyrin and the French Benoit Paire are the other two players confirmed up to the moment.
The tournament will begin to be played on the 16th or 17th of may at the Academy, Mouratoglou, with headquarters in Biot (France), near Nice, and will consist of approximately 50 meetings.
The tournament will become an annual event
These dates are adapted to the end of the confinement in France, which according to the government will end the 11th of may.
The objective of Mouratoglou is that this tournament has, for now, character of display, but with the time becoming an annual event, with points and prizes, played in an interview with the Tennis Majors.
“During 5 weekends, from the 16th or 17th of may, 10 players will compete against each other. We hope to have 50 matches. Will be top players, although we have not yet spoken with a lot of seeping the details of the project,” said the coach.
The tennis world is in these moments suspended until the 13 of July, although it seems complicated that international tournaments can be resumed from that date.
