In a new book written by the family ThunbergMalena Ernman reveals the difficulties that your daughter with autism happened in your childhood, such as an eating disorder and the time in which the now-recognized activist Greta Thunberg he stopped talking.
In the book “Our House is on Fire: Scenes of a Family and to Planet Crisis”, the mother, an opera singer, Swedish, describes how the family found out that Greta was not well at the age of 11 years.
In some extracts published by the daily Observer, Ernman, tells that Greta “slowly disappeared into some kind of darkness.” Lost 10 kilos in two months and was about to be admitted to the hospital when his father, Svante Thunberg, realized that the child was suffering from bullying.
Greta stops talking and does not eat
His parents had a hard time coping with his silence and refused to eat any thing that they would not be small amounts of rice, avocado and gnocchi.
Eventually, Greta it was attended by psychiatrists who diagnosed him autism “high-functioning”, what his mother describes as Asperger’s, as well as obsessive compulsive disorder.
In the book he describes how the passion of Greta by stopping the climate change began after he saw a film in class about the trash in the oceans, “an island of plastic” in the South Pacific.
“Greta could not reconcile this with nothing of what I had just seen. She saw what the rest of us did not want to see. It was as if she could see our CO2 emissions with only their eyes.”, write Ernman.
Although at the beginning the father of Greta wanted to convince her to come home, soon his parents began to see the positive impact that the strikes organised in the school were having on her.
