Sören Kierkegaard he was born in Copenhagen, being the youngest of the seven children of a merchant wealthy. Educated according to rigid religious rules, the revelation of a dark guilt of his father left him deeply marked, to the point of getting to think about his family weighed a curse. Is formed in an austere environment a protestant and he was a person prone to melancholy and distress. Due to its concern for the individual and his assertion of the superiority of existence over essence, is considered the main precursor of existentialism.

In 1940 he graduated from the University of Copenhagen, with a thesis entitled “Concept of irony”. In 1841 he attended in Berlin the lessons of Schelling, where is the confirmation of the reasons for his disagreement with hegelian philosophy. Kierkegaard part of the criticism of the system of Hegelto whose concept of the absolute spirit contrasted to the individual and what is unique.

All your speculations are focused on the subjective dimension of man in search of the truth. Between 1843 and 1845, he published such works as: “Or one or the other,” 1843; “the concept of anxiety”, 1844; “Stages in the journey of life”, 1845; “The fatal disease”, 1849 “Diary of a seducer” and “Fear and trembling”, 1850.

On the basis of the experience of anguish, that the man feels in front of the whys of his own existence,Kierkegaard theorized three stages of spiritual maturity to overcome the condition of suffering and pain. In the first stage, the aesthetic, the man takes refuge in hedonism and the sheer enjoyment of the moment. The emblematic figure of this phase is to Don Juan. The second stage is the ethical, symbolized by the figure of the husband which is entirely devoted to family duties. The third and last stage, which requires a radical decision, a “leap”, is the religious one.

However, the great paradox of the christian religion, consists in that man, being finite, aspires to reach the divine essence, that is to say, the infinite. The religious life is not tied to a belief nor a Church, thatKierkegaardto , among other things, rejects and attacks with hardness, but that is the abandonment to a faith that is infinite.

Kierkegaard he died in 1855.
