Hackers steal 750 gigabytes in documents of celebrities


A legal firm representing several of the top figures of the entertainment was the victim of a cyber attack in which hackers seized about 750 gigabytes of informationand now the group threatened to release the data if they do not receive criptomonedas to change.

According to the entertainment portal Variety, the attack against the law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas and Sack resulted in a loot of personal data as personal contracts and agreements confidentiality of figures as Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson, among others.

The firm confirmed that it was the victim of an attack by writing to the BBC and notified his clients and reported the situation to the experts that specialize in electronic attacks.

It is believed that the group used a program ransomware (programs that encrypt the information captured and then asks for a payment to unlock the data). The same program was used for attacks carried out against the center currency exchange Travelex, in January, and against the company’s information technology Artech Information Systems. In the case of Travelex, the company paid about $2 million in criptomonedas Bitcoin to retrieve their data.
