It is possible that after The Avengers can’t think of one that is not Mark Ruffalo to play the Hulk, but in his head there were many doubts before accepting the role of the Marvel character. In fact, Ruffalo finally agree we owe mainly to another actor of the saga.

The story told to him by Ruffalo, in a recent interview on The Tonight Show. The actor told Jimmy Fallon that he had countless of questions to the time to return to the role of Bruce Banner which he had played previously by Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk, Ang Lee.

I was scared. I did not know what I could add to what you already thought had been done so well before that I” he told the presenter.

Until then, Ruffalo had made a name in the circuit more independent, and had no very clear your way to a superproducing out to be a success. “Then I thought, ‘I don’t know if I am the right person for this.’ And the director Joss Whedon said to me, ‘Yes, you’re the right person’”recalled in the programme.

However, the definitive yes gave it to him after having a chat with Robert Downey Jr., the person who convinced him to join the cast. “I received a call from Downey. I should have told him that he was groping the option, and he simply said: ‘Ruffalo, you can’t even think about it. We have to accept it’ Then, after that, I remember that I thought ‘I guess I have to do it’”.

The actor also revealed the doubts that was in around the secrecy with which Marvel he spoke of their projects:

I wanted to read a script, and they don’t give you scripts. When I was a young actor, I promised that I would never make another movie without reading a script beforehand, because it is a recipe for disaster, and then you get caught up in something that you wouldn’t want to. Our only power as actors it is our ability to say ‘no’ sometimes. And I thought, ‘I Need to read something’, and the studio said to me, ‘sorry, we do not take anything’”.

That day, Ruffalo has finally Whedon gave him 20 pages of what I had written so far for the character of Bruce Banner:

I read that first scene … when Black Widow finds Banner in India, and I said, ‘Ok, I love this.’ It was something different. I thought, ‘Oh, it’s okay … It’s funny and has charisma, I think that I could do something with that’.

Will we ever see him play Banner? Could be. The actor has spoken about the possibility of returning to the MCU in the next series of Disney + She-Hulk.[[Mental Floss]
