Mariah Careythe pop diva who has co-authored 18 of his 19 hits that reached the number one, will be incorporated into the Hall of Fame of the Composers. Also added this year to the hall The Neptunes (the duo Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo), the former members of Eurythmics, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewartthe Isley Brothers, Rick Nowels, William “Mickey” Stephenson, and Steve Miller.
The artists will receive the tribute to officer during the 51 annual dinner awards and inclusion in the Hall of Composers on the 11th of June in New York. Composers are eligible after writing hit songs for at least 20 years.
Carey, whose successes include “We Belong Together” and “Hero”made his debut in 1990 with a self-titled album. Has header with 19 songs on the list Hot 100 Billboardit , placing it behind only the Beatles, who had 20 in the top.
His classic christmas 25 years ago, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, reached number one in the Hot 100 in December and January, with what the lead singer is the only artist with a number one hit in every decade from the 1990s to the present. The only song that Carey not wrote and reached number one it was his version of “I’ll Be There” of the Jackson 5.
The duo The Neptunes gave way to the radio, pop and urban from the 90s up to 2000 when you create success for Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Usher and Beyoncé. Williams and Hugo, who met in the seventh grade of the school, wrote number one hits as “Hot In Here” of Nelly, “Hollaback Girl” Gwen Stefani and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” of Snoop Dogg.
The duo helped Britney Spears to get rid of its image of good girl in 2001, with the spicy “I’m A Slave 4 U”one of the traditional songs of the performer, and produced more than half of the emblematic album of Timberlake 2002 “Justified”, his solo debut, which broke off hits as “Like I Love You” and “Miss”.
In recent years, Williams, winner of 13 Grammy awards, has occurred without Hugo (winner of two Grammy awards), creating hits for Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Migos, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, among others. Williams also had a great success with his own music, receiving even a nomination for an Oscar for “Happy”one of the most popular songs of the last decade.
Twenty-four artists were considered this year for the Hall of Fame of Composers, including Outkast, R. E. M., Patti Smith, Journey, Vince Gill and Gloria Estefan. Only six composers, individual or groups, are incorporated each year.
