The iconic singer published in Instagram on Saturday, may 30, a fragment of his song from 1990, “There’s Got to Be a Way” while demanding justice for Floyd, a black man who was murdered recently by a police officer white in Minneapolis.
“I wrote this song for my first album. I am still looking for answers today.
We have to make a change. We cannot be silent”, subtituló the video Carey, adding the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
Earlier this week, appeared a video of the death of Floyd, which shows the officer Derek Chauvin kneeling in the neck of Floyd for eight minutes. Chauvin was later accused of murder in the third degree and manslaughter in the death of Floyd.
In its publication, Carey encouraged the fans to send a text message with ‘FLOYD’ the 55156 to demand #JusticeForFloyd. The campaign is part of the petition from Color of Change that calls for the officers involved in the death of Floyd being blocked for no return to work in the police and filed charges of murder against them.
“I don’t understand how you can have intolerance regulated,” sings Carey in the video. “There must be a way to connect this world today”.
Carey joins a long list of celebrities to speak after the death of Floyd, including Beyonce, Rihanna, Ice Cube, Ariana Grande and others. See his complete publication below.
