Lil Nas X led his horse to the old road from the village and rode up to reach the first place of the Billboard charts for 16 weeks, tying the record for Mariah Carey and Luis Fonsi.
Old Town Road spent its 16th week at the top of the list Hot 100 of Billboardmatching the success of Carey and Boyz II Men with One Sweet Day between 1995 and 1996, and by Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber with the remix of Slowly in 2017.
No song has led for more than 16 weeks list Hot 100, which includes all kinds of music, in its 61-year history.
Old Town Road, a song to country music and rap, was originally a solobut Lil Nas X, 20 years old, invited to Billy Ray Cyrus to record and achieved success, mainly due to the streaming audio.
The topic was initially aroused some controversy in march when Billboard removed from their lists country because it did not seem to be enough of the country (the highest post that got on those lists was the 19th). But far from it, the drama only served to boost its popularity.
Old Town Road is the EP debut of Lil Nas X 7, which reached the 2nd place of the list of 200 albums of Billboard this month. The EP also includes the hits of the Top 40 Panini and Rodeothis last Cardi B.
Old Town Road it also takes 16 weeks at the top of the lists of R&B, hip hop and rap.
Several songs have debuted in the second position of the list Hot 100, without being able to dethrone Old Town Road.
