State of SP will receive Estrella Galicia’s first factory outside Spain


With the support of InvestSP, the company plans to invest R$ 2 billion in Araraquara

Governor João Doria announced this Thursday (25) that the state of São Paulo will receive the first factory of the Spanish corporation Hijos de Rivera, owner of the Estrella Galicia beer brand, outside Spain. The unit will be built in Araraquara, a city in the interior about 270 kilometers from the capital.

“Estrella Galicia will invest R$ 2 billion in Araraquara and 400 new direct jobs will be created at this factory, which will start operating at the end of 2023. Estrella Galicia is the second largest brewery group in Spain, one of the largest brewing groups in Spain. world and is the best-selling beer brand in Spain”, said Doria.

The group is assisted by InvestSP, the São Paulo Investment Promotion and Competitiveness Agency, which helped the brewery locate the area and participated in environmental discussions related to water availability, a fundamental issue for the plant’s operation.

“The choice of Araraquara to receive the first Estrella Galicia factory outside Spain shows the competitiveness of the interior of São Paulo in attracting investments. We have been looking for projects for São Paulo that develop their businesses in a sustainable manner, as this will guarantee the growth of the São Paulo economy in the long term”, said the president of InvestSP, Gustavo Junqueira.

The idea of ​​the Hijos de Rivera group is for the new unit to be a model of a sustainable factory in the environmental sphere, with the adoption of good practices from the raw material to the customers’ consumption experience.

The Araraquara unit will have the latest in the sustainability area and the same technologies that made the brand reach, at the beginning of the year, the goal of zero carbon emissions in its main facilities. This was possible with the adoption of a cleaner energy matrix, with biogas generation, use of renewable energies, photovoltaic plants and hybrid vehicles.

“I am very happy that we are taking this very important step for our company, which will be our second factory in the world, in Brazil. It is without a doubt a dream and we hope that, together, we can make it come true in 2023”, declared the Global CEO of Estrella Galicia, Ignacio Rivera.
