Brazilians registered in the Cadastro Único (CadUnique) will have access to the so-called “TV Antenna Kit“. The intention is that those who make use of satellite dishes (TVRO) can update their devices to more effectively synchronize television channels.

Inside the new kits is a receiver focused on audio and video compression, which helps to improve the sound and image quality of broadcasts. All for free and with no additional charge to registered families.
How will it work?
Currently, it is estimated that about 20 million Brazilian families are following the free and open television signal through satellite in Band C. However, it will be migrated to Band Ku, in order to avoid interference in band 3, 5 GHz.
For those who don’t know, the 3.5 GHz band is reserved for 5G, which is a higher signal frequency. Recently, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) announced that the start of implementation operations for the new technology in the country’s capitals has been extended until September 29. Until then, the deadline was June.
When will the kits be released?
The release and offer of antenna kits for CadÚnico subscribers will happen as the bandwidth exchange resources are being realized. The main purpose is to prevent citizens who make use of outdoor satellite television from being without signal.
The migration from Band C to Band Ku serves to release the 5G signal and thus meet the specifications provided for in the public notice. Estimates indicate that capital cities will be the first to benefit from the start of mobile broadband in Brazil, followed later by cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants and so on, until the update schedule is complete in 2026.
