It will be discussed this Tuesday, 21, by the Board of Trustees of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS), what will be the billionaire profit of the fund accumulated in 2021 and that will be distributed to workers until the end of August this year. The amount of FGTS profit always refers to the year prior to the payment.

In previous years, as in 2021, R$ 8.1 billion was distributed, equivalent to 96% of the total accumulated by the fund. On the other hand, in 2020, the transfer to workers’ accounts was lower, totaling R$ 7.5 billion, which represented 66.2% of the positive balance accumulated in 2019.
According to the law, the FGTS profit cannot be distributed in full (100%), and the decision regarding the division index is in the hands of the Board of Trustees, which will discuss again soon what percentage will be divided among eligible workers. This year, the forecast is that this process will suffer the impacts of inflation, which has already accumulated a high of 11.73% in the last 12 months.
Who is entitled to receive the FGTS profit?
Participation in the distribution of 2021 results will be intended for all workers who had a balance in the FGTS on December 31, 2021.
It is important to note that the money does not go directly to the citizen’s pocket, but to linked accounts, so that the amount is distributed proportionally to the balance.
The deposit of the FGTS profit will be made until August 31 by Caixa Econômica Federal.
Withdrawal of FGTS profit
Even with the deposit, the income to be distributed to workers’ accounts can only be redeemed through the FGTS withdrawal rules, such as unfair dismissal, retirement, serious illness, purchase of a home, among others.
