Rio – At age 81, Roberto Carlos was diagnosed with covid-19, according to information from the singer’s advice. According to the note released on Instagram, this Monday (20), the artist has only mild flu symptoms and is already at the end of the disease cycle. Because of his health, the King postponed the show he would do in Rio, this Wednesday (22), to a new date, still to be scheduled, in July.
“The press office of the artist Roberto Carlos, communicates that the singer, after a few days with mild flu symptoms, continues to test positive for Covid-19 even though he is at the end of the cycle. For this reason, concerned with the well being and protection of all, we take the decision to transfer the show from June 22 (Wednesday) to July 6 (Wednesday), at 9:30 pm, at Qualistage, in Rio de Janeiro. Remember that tickets are automatically valid for the new date, and that the other dates are confirmed”, informs the statement.
During the most critical period of the coronavirus pandemic, Roberto Carlos avoided leaving home and spent almost two years in seclusion at his residence in Urca, in the South Zone of Rio. Recently, the singer spoke about the emotion of resuming his concert schedule: “It’s a great joy to go back to work. I spent two and a half years without doing anything, without leaving home, just from home to the studio because I’ve been recording some things , some songs…”, he commented.
“I just went out to do the special [de fim de ano da Globo] last year, with all possible protocols, let’s put it this way… Anyway, but I’m happy to be back and especially on the eve of Valentine’s Day, which has everything to do with me”, said the artist, who performed at a resort in Bahia with the project “Emoções”, between the 8th and 12th of June.
