Alok pronounces on the process involving Itaipava and Brahma

After the LeoDias column revealed the lawsuit filed by Grupo Petrópolis, owner of Itaipava beer, against Alok, asking for around R$ 17 million, the DJ took a stand on the subject, stating that he could not stop exercising his main profession despite the contract. According to a legal statement, made and sent to the column by his lawyer, Robson Cunha, Alok fulfilled all contractual commitments with the company and the conglomerate had already been informed that the artist performed at events sponsored by competing brands, such as Brahma.

“Before we signed the contract, they had already been informed that I am hired every year to perform in cabin N1. I can’t help but exercise my main profession, which is the show, regardless of having another beer as a sponsor”, wrote the artist on this columnist’s Instagram.

“During the entire construction of the instrument that governs the relationship between the PARTIES, the CONTRACTING PARTY was informed of the existence of events and festivals where the CONSENTING PARTY already exercised and would continue to exercise its main artistic activity, which is DJ, sponsored by other brands”, informs the DJ team in an official note.

The DJ’s team also claims that the contract was signed while the president and founder of Grupo Petrópolis, Walter Faria, was away from his duties, and, as he recently returned to his position, changes took place in the group’s marketing department: “It turns out that all the negotiations on the relationship between the parties were built by a board that took over the Petrópolis group during the absence of Walter Faria, president and founder of the company, and when he returned to the direction of the company, there were some changes in marketing direction of the group”.

The group sues the DJ after he posted photos on his social networks with the Brahma logo, when he performed at the Rio de Janeiro Carnival during the champions’ parade in cabin N1, located in Sapucaí, which the brewery owns. The conglomerate asks

Read the full note below:

Alok and Grupo Petrópolis entered into a commercial partnership in June 2021. In this 1-year period, all contractual commitments assumed were fulfilled.

It so happens that all negotiations on the relationship between the parties were built by a board that took over the Petrópolis group during the absence of Walter Faria, president and founder of the company, and when he returned to the company’s management, there were some changes in group marketing direction.

During the entire construction of the instrument that governs the relationship between the PARTIES, the CONTRACTING PARTY was informed of the existence of events and festivals where the CONSENTING PARTY already exercised and would continue to exercise its main artistic activity, which is DJ, sponsored by other brands, such as example: the Jaguariúna Rodeo, the Festa do Peão de Barretos, the Camarote N1, Rock in Rio and the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, being agreed by the CONTRACTING PARTY and only established that in these cases the CONSENTING PARTY would be prohibited from participating in advertising actions of competing products or brands. Which, of course, never happened.

Further discussions on this matter will be dealt with exclusively in the case file.”
