Corinthians is preparing to face Santos on two occasions this week. Already eyeing the duels, valid for the Copa do Brasil (Wednesday) and the Brazilian (Saturday). And the team may not have Gil on hand.
The defender felt pain in the back of his left thigh against Goiás and, since then, undergoing treatment in the CT. Gil has already passed exams and the diagnosis will be known just one hour before the start of this Wednesday’s duel.
The club has decided that it will not inform the fans in advance about the athletes’ clinical situation. The report of My Helm found that, internally, there is pessimism about the defender’s participation in the next two engagements.
As well as Gil’s diagnosis, the list of those related to the duel with Santos, including holders and reserves, will be posted on the club’s social networks for the knowledge of Corinthians fans just one hour before the start of the game.
In time: if the exam shows only a muscle contracture, the defender tends to be absent for a week. If the result is a muscle injury, however, recovery will take longer. The most serious cases of this type of injury require more than a month.
João Victor, Raul Gustavo and Robson Bambu
In addition to Gil, Corinthians has three other names for the position. João Victor, who used to start the team, did not play in the last seven matches due to a sprain in his right ankle. Before the duel with Goiás, Corinthians did not detail the injury to the crowd, only informed that the defender is ‘improving the physical and technical part’.
If João is absent once again and Gil’s absence is confirmed, Corinthians’ defense against Santos should have Robson Bambu and Raul Gustavo. On the bench, the team should count on young Robert Renan, from the U-20 team, as an option.
