Federal District records the first suspected case of monkeypox

The Health Department of the Federal District (SES-DF) is investigating the first suspected case of monkeypox (Monkeypox) in the country’s capital. The information was given by the agency, by means of a note, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (21/6).

According to the folder, a case of hepatitis of “unknown etiology” is also being investigated. According to the SES-DF, it is a child who is aged between 5 and 9 years. “(She) is in good health and performing outpatient follow-up”, highlighted the note.


Regarding the suspected case of monkeypox, the health department of the DF said that the patient is male and aged between 20 and 29 years. O Mail found that he is at home and is doing well.

The note released by SES-DF reported that the cases were reported to the Ministry of Health. Also according to the text, the capital’s health network is prepared to deal with Monkeypox. “As soon as the first cases were registered in Brazil, the Center for Strategic Information on Health Surveillance (Cievs) of the DF issued an epidemiological alert to the primary care and hospital units of the public and private networks”, he stressed.

The Secretariat closed the text stating that “it remains attentive and monitoring the cases, until the laboratory results come out”.
