Miss Baba Yaga? During the SXSW festival, Keanu Reeves participated in a panel on “John Wick 4“, and confirmed that he will also be in the first spin-off of the franchise, “Ballerina“, starring Ana de Armas (via deadline).
The new film will show the young assassin of the title seeking revenge against the people who killed her family. The character has appeared briefly in “John Wick 3: Parabellum” played by Unity Phelan, but it is barely possible to identify her. During a panel at CCXP22, Keanu Reeves has already stated that the protagonist has “someone with a tattoo” among her targets. “I have a tattoo”, he added, giving hints of his participation.
In addition to Reeves and Armas, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno complete the cast.
The direction of the spin-off is in charge of Len Wiseman, known for the franchise “night Angels“, with the initial version of the script being by Shay Hatten, who wrote the “parabellum“. A more recent version was written by Emerald Fennell, Oscar winner for “beautiful revenge“. Chad Stahelski, director of the main franchise films, will serve as a producer along with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
A premiere date for “Ballerina” has yet to be announced. “John Wick 4” hits theaters on March 23.
