by Blizzard Entertainment devil 4 was surprisingly left out of a recent PlayStation editorial called “23 great games to look forward to in 2023.” The upcoming action RPG was passed over for other lesser known games like Tchia, Pacific Drive, Eternights, and Synduality.
It’s unclear why Diablo 4 was overlooked, despite it being frequently touted as one of the most anticipated games of this year. But one reason could be Sony’s ongoing fight against Microsoft in its pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Call of Duty is also not on the list of the most anticipated PlayStation games in 2023
The format of the PlayStation editorial is strange, as at first glance it looks like an official ranking, but it’s more of a standard list of officially promoted PS5 games. It made a similar list last year that has the same design, although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2 weren’t on that list. In fact, none of the lists include any Activision Blizzard games.
Part of Activision Blizzard’s exclusion is likely because the developer had to face lawsuits in 2021 for sexual harassment, including one from the federal government. The possible merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard probably hasn’t helped either, as far as Sony is concerned.
That said, there are other games that were conspicuously absent from the feature as well, including Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Dead Island 2, Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Armored Core 6 (which is on our list of most anticipated games for 2023). .
Diablo 4 is scheduled to launch on PS5 and PS4 on June 6, and its Battle Pass, Ultimate Edition, and Deluxe Edition all leaked last month.
