Capture Points are a new Fortnite Chapter 4 mechanic that involves securing small locations within important POIs for big rewards. Here we tell you how to claim a Capture Point in Fortnite and all the locations where we can find them.

If you’ve played any multiplayer game before, chances are you’ve come across a mode that involves capture points (or Control Points) where the goal is to maintain control of a specific location for a set amount of time.

Even though Fortnite does not have a dedicated mode for capture points, they have started to appear in the standard battle royale mode. If our squad manages to take control of these points, we will get a lot of loot and reveal nearby chests.

How to claim a capture point

Claiming a capture point is as simple as staying within the radius of the circle until the flag is fully raised atop the mast. We can check the progress by looking at the circular meter that appears on the screen, since it will indicate the time we have to stay.

Leaving the radius of the circle will not completely reset our progress. Nevertheless, yes the flag will slowly fall down the mast if we stray too longso it’s a good idea to stay where you are unless you’re completely overwhelmed by opponents.

It is very important to be vigilant while trying to claim a capture point because we will reveal our location to any nearby opponents by the rising flag and sound effects.

When we have claimed a capture point, a lot of loot will appear around us. It will typically include decently rarity weapons, healing items, shields, and throwables like grenades, so it’s a good way to get some good gear early in the game.

Enemies and chests inside the POI will also be marked for 30 seconds after we claim a capture point. With this information, we can sneak up on our opponents to easily take them out or figure out the best escape route.
