While rope may be a small item in real everyday life, its uses in Minecraft are surprisingly wide. It could probably be considered more of a string, but in-game, it’s a thin thread of cloth that can make fishing poles, bows, wool blocks, straps, and much more. It can also be used to make Tripwires to set Redstone gadgets to activate when passed. All of these uses of String make it one of the most versatile items in Minecraft. Here’s how to get more of it.

How to find ropes in Minecraft
There are quite a few ways to get String in Minecraft. The first and most practical way to obtain thread is by killing spiders. Instead of the net inside them, the item will drop. You can get more rope from spiders by killing them with a sword with the Plunder enchantment. Cave spiders also give thread, but are a bit more dangerous in Survival as they poison you and are smaller targets to hit.
Also, if you find spider webs around the area, hit them with a sword and the rope will fall. However, if you have a Silk Touch item in Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, break the net and you can take it to a crafting table to turn that net into nine pieces of rope.
While spiders are probably the most prominent way to get rope, you can also get them through fishing and the cats might bring you some in the morning as a gift. String can also be found in chests in various dungeons and temples. If you’re in the Nether, Piglins can be traded and give you up to nine pieces of rope. Striders and Cats drop String on death.
