The public channel broadcasts the North American awards ceremony during the night of March 12th to 13th.
RTP announced that it will broadcast the Oscars ceremony live for the third consecutive year. The show takes place at dawn from the 12th to the 13th of March (Sunday to Monday) and can be seen on RTP1.
Conducted by Mário Augusto from the RTP studios in Porto, the broadcast will closely follow the North American film awards night and will feature the presence of several guests.
The 95th Academy Awards of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be broadcast in over 200 countries.
“Everything Everywhere at Once” leaves as a favourite. It has eleven nominations. “Nothing New in the West” got nine as did “The Spirits of Inisherin”.
For the first time, Portugal has a nominated film. “Ice Merchants”, by João Gonzalez, is one of the finalists in the category of best animated short film.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies is Jimmy Kimmel, who will conduct the gala in front of the 3,300 guests in the room and in front of millions watching on television.
Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, Troy Kotsur, Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Deepika Padukone, Questlove, Zoe Saldaña and Donnie Yen are some of the presenters already announced.
