A Boy Scout who died in a boating accident on a New Hampshire lake was identified by his family Sunday. The family of Keoni Hubbard, 11, released a statement Sunday afternoon saying he died as a result of the boating accident on Manning Lake in Gilmanton Friday. He was a member of a Boy Scout troop in Lexington, Massachusetts. “Our hearts are forever broken by the loss of our Keoni. Loved by his family and friends, Keoni’s spirit and empathy for others resonated with all who love and admire him. Keoni was simply the best – a selfless child who truly found joy in the happiness of others. Our family appreciates the support of the community and respectfully asks that you respect our privacy as we grieve the unimaginable loss of our beloved Keoni,” the family said in a statement. Lexington Public Schools Superintendent Julie Hackett said Keoni was a middle school student. In a message to parents, she said: “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family, as well as the Clarke school community and all those affected by this tragic event. We are blessed to be part of a loving, caring community and we will together in times of need.
