Cloud9 closes the regular phase of the LCS with the lead

Cloud9 wants to get another League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) consecutively and for this they have dominated on the last day of the regular phase. The current champions of the North American competition have qualified for the playoffs, securing the first position, which they held since the penultimate week. To get the lead C9 beat FlyQuest twice in one week. Initially in their league match and later the tiebreaker for the highest zone of the table.

For the longest time in competition FlyQuest has assumed leadership of the LCS. From the second week to the sixth week, Jeong Eon-young’s team «Impact» has been the rival to beat to get first place in the North American competition. However, two setbacks in the last five games – against Cloud9 and Team Liquid – forced the American organization to play the tiebreaker against C9. Who has also played tiebreakers is 100 Thieves, who in the last day has surpassed Evil Geniuses and CLG to obtain third place. These are the playoff qualifiers:

  1. Cloud9 (14-4)
  2. FlyQuest (14-4)
  3. 100 Thieves (10-8)
  4. CLG (10-8)
  5. Evil Geniuses (10-8)
  6. Golden Guardians (9-9)

Team Liquid stars in the biggest disappointment of the LCS

The great absence in the next LCS playoffs is Team Liquid after finishing the regular phase in eighth position with eight wins and 10 losses. Before the start of the season, Liquid was considered one of the clubs to watch by fans and pundits alike due to their South Korean project. Beyond keeping Jo Yong-in”CoreJJ«, the entity took over the services of the current world champion Hong Chang-hyeon «pyosik» and signed the return of Park Woo-tae «Summit» to North America.

The playoffs will begin on March 23 with the FlyQuest against 100 Thieves, the opening game of the upper bracket. The LCS knockout stage format will consist of two draws: a winners bracket and a losers bracket. The top four ranked are in the starting draw, while Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses are in the bottom. Therefore, all computers that are in losers they must win if they do not want to be eliminated in the race for the title of champion.
