Fortnite: Battle Royale is very popular and millions of people play it every month. Unfortunately, some will not be able to return to the game starting today as Epic Games’ Battle Royale has stopped working on millions of computers.
Through Twitter, Epic Games announced that Fortnite: Battle Royale no longer works on computers that have Windows 7 and Windows 8. The above, since the game only works on computers that have Windows 10 or higher.
“As we previously announced, beginning with Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 2, players will need to be running Windows 10 or higher to continue playing Fortnite on PC. Windows 7 and 8 will no longer support Fortnite,” Epic Games said on Twitter.
It is not known how many Fortnite: Battle Royale players will be affected by this measure, although the percentage should be small enough that Epic Games think it’s a good idea to cut support for these operating systems. There are still millions of computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8, so a lot of computers suddenly stopped natively supporting Fortnite.
Affected users will not be left without the game. We say this because if they have a computer powerful enough to run it, they always have the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11. If they don’t want to do that, they can run it on a cloud service, says Level Up.
“For gamers unable to upgrade their system, NVIDIA GeForce NOW is now available as an alternative so they can continue to play Fortnite via streaming on their Windows 7 and Windows 8 PC,” ends Epic Games to its community.
