Fortnite stops working on Windows 7 and 8: what are the reasons

Fortnite confirmed that it will no longer be available on computers that have Windows 7 and 8 due to an increase in the technical requirements for its operation in this type of device.

The video game started season 2 of chapter 4 and for this reason it was decided to cut off access, which had already been anticipated since December 2022.

At the end of last year, Epic Games began using the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine in Fortnitethis led to the video game having a significant improvement at the graphic and performance level, which implies raising the requirements on the devices where it will work.

For this reason, the decision was made to cut the access of Windows 7 and 8 to the game, since they are old operating systems that do not meet these minimum standards and it was decided to only allow the execution of the title on computers with Windows 10 and eleven.

The developers’ recommendation is that gamers running these operating systems use NVIDIA GeForce NOW to run it. However, this cloud gaming platform is not available in all countries, which will mean that a part of current users must look for another alternative to enjoy battle royale.

For this new part of Chapter 4 there is a great content package, starting with Mega City, a new location on the map that has suspended ropes and motorcycles to give the stage great mobility, adding more verticality to the combat.

Along with this are added new vehicles and weapons, such as silenced assault rifles, pump-action shotguns, and pulse-racing rifles. In addition, a variety of new characters, including Eren Jaeger from Shingeki no Kyojin as a prize from the battle pass, as well as other original skins from Fortnite that fit the neon aesthetic of the season.

There will also be other changes on the map, by adding scenes inspired by Japanese culture with cherry trees, typical buildings of that country and places with an aura that they call ‘mega tranquility’.

With the arrival of this new season in the game, @ShiinaBR, a well-known leaker, assured that Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, protagonists of Resident Evil, will come to the game from Epic Games. The horror franchise is in the midst of launching RE4 Remake and that would be the opportunity to unite the titles.
