The buzz about the Kardashian-Jenner family allegedly not being invited to the 2023 Met Gala has reached Kim Kardashian herself, and it would have made her pretty self-conscious.
The rumor emerged about two weeks ago, when a source on the site Page Six stated that the boss behind the event, journalist and businesswoman Anna Wintour, would bar both Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, and her sisters – Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. “She’s cracking down on the guest list at the annual fashion bash – no Kardashians will make it through.”
Now, a close contact with the famous family told the newspaper The US Sun that it was all just a misunderstanding. “Anna wanted to curate the guest list this year and make the event more exclusive,” the insider explained. “While many names were discussed, the participants were in an ongoing conversation and nothing was set in stone. Kim was never informed that she might not be on the list.”
“While invitations have officially been sent out and Kim has been confirmed, the news leaks about her possibly not receiving an invite has caused tensions to run high behind the scenes, which has been a huge misunderstanding,” the source continued. adding that Kim was “very unhappy” with the rumors and was “tense” with Wintour’s team until his team tried to “put a stop to” the mess.
“It’s been embarrassing for everyone involved, but Kim is still excited and is already working with a fashion house to create a bespoke look for the evening,” the insider concluded.
Kim has been going to the Met Gala since 2013, but it was only last year that she and her entire family showed up at the party together.
One of the hottest events in the fashion and celebrity world, the celebration serves to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
In 2022, Kim made headlines (and caused controversy) by showing up to the gala in a dress that was once worn by Marilyn Monroe.
