LoL Esports Journey In 2023 Announced

Today the 2023 LoL Esports Season officially begins with the participation of the regional leagues for two days, and with the players returning to the qualifiers. The important news is the cambops in The MSI Mid-Season Invitational will arrive in London in 2023, thirteen teams will be qualified from around the world to fight for the title. With a new tournament format and rankings that promises intense competition.

This year, MSI will expand to include 13 teams instead of 11 and will feature two double-elimination phases: the play-ins phase and the keys phase.

The play-ins They will include eight teams: the two qualified teams from the LEC, the LCS and the LPL, and the qualified team from the LLA, the CBLOL, the PCS, the VCS and the LJL (11 teams in total). In 2023, the second LCK team will qualify directly for the bracket phase, since they were the 2022 Worlds champions

These eight teams will be divided into two groups of four to compete in best-of-three double-elimination matches. The winner of each group and the winner of a Last Chance Qualifier match between the second winners of the two brackets will advance to the bracket phase, where they will meet the five direct qualifying teams

Worlds 2023 Announcements

The League of Legends World Championship will return to Korea, the home of the defending world title champions will host this year. Worlds also has a new format with 22 teams to face each other in three phases of competition: the play-insthe Swiss system phase and the playoffs. We are excited to announce that before the start of the main event, there will be a new level of ranking: the Worlds Qualifying Series.

The Worlds Qualifying Series will be a best-of-5 series between the fourth ranked team from the LEC and the fourth ranked team from the LCS. The winner of that matchup will secure their berth to Worlds. In the coming years, we hope to expand the Worlds Ranked Series to include more regions and teams. The winner of the qualifying series and the other 21 qualified teams will travel to Korea to compete in Worlds, with 8 of those teams starting in the play-ins phase. The placement of the qualified teams was determined by the international performance of each region. 4 qualified teams will start in the Swiss System phase: The 4 ranked teams from the LPL and the LCKThe 3 ranked teams from the LEC and the LCSIn the Swiss system phasethe two Play-Ins winners will join the 14 seeded teams for the Swiss System phase.
