New evidence confirms the rumor of a “Counter-Strike 2”

A new piece of evidence has appeared revealing that “Counter-Strike 2″ could be about to see the light. If so, it would become the latest installment in the long-running Counter-Strike franchise. Valvewhich is considered by many to be the king of the tactical shooter genre.

There’s been a lot of rumors about a possible Counter-Strike 2, and whether it would be an entirely new game or just an update to Valve’s Source 2 engine.

At the moment, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive runs on the original Source engine, which has been used since 2004. Valve has already updated one of its previous games to Source 2 once, Dota 2, in 2015, so it’s been a lot Time for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

With nothing officially confirmed, the truth remains unclear, though it looks like players won’t have to wait much longer to find out. Valve has filed a trademark application for a “CS2” with the US Patent and Trademark Office, indicating that either an update or a new game, Counter-Strike 2 appears to be on the way.

The application is still active with the ‘USPTO’ after it was initially filed on March 14. It’s unclear how long it will take to get fully approved, but it’s unlikely Valve will release Counter-Strike 2 until everything is final.

There’s still a lot of this unknown, and the big question is whether the cosmetics, some extremely expensive, from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will carry over to the new game.
