The mayoress presents this activity that will be held from April 10 to 14 in order for the participants to become familiar with and practice this native sport during the holidays.
The Ruth Beitia Complex and the ‘La Marga’ bowling alley, in Castilla-Hermida, will host two free bowling camps this Easter for children from 5 to 16 years old.
This was announced by the mayoress, Gema Igual, after meeting with the president of the Cantabrian Bowling Federation, Norberto Ortiz, along with whom he presented the details of this activity that aims to familiarize the participants with and practice this native sport during school holidays.
Accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Felipe Pérez, Igual has detailed that the campus will be taught from April 10 to 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and that, in addition, complementary activities, directed games and alternative sports will be developed.
The councilor has indicated that it is “fundamental” that children and young people from Santander know, practice and value bowling, so that they also take care of this tradition and help maintain it and pass it on to future generations.
To do this, it has encouraged families to enroll their children in these two campuses by email [email protected] before next Monday, April 3.
The same has affected that from the Santander City Council there is an “absolute commitment to the promotion and dissemination” of the sport of bowling since, in addition to the campuses, also last year, in collaboration with the Federation, a project to promote the practice of this sport in the city, bringing it closer to the bowling alleys spread throughout the municipality, so that residents can enjoy it.
For his part, the Councilor for Sport, Felipe Pérez Manso, thanked the Cantabrian Bowling Federation for their work, with whom, he underlined, “the continued collaboration both on this campus and in the palm bowling dissemination program in schools and neighborhoods from the city”. Regarding the latter, he has shown his satisfaction “for the magnificent reception that he is having. We are overwhelmed, which gives us great joy”.
The monitors who are taking care of this program are part of the collaboration of the Employment Service with the Local Corporations, and according to Pérez Manso emphasizes “this year, which is the second, they do it in better conditions since we have intervened in the reconditioning of 11 bowling alleys in the city. I think our commitment to bowling is beyond doubt.”
Civic centers and telecentres
Also facing the school holiday period, civic centers and telecentres offer campuses and activities for the little ones.
The Mercedes Cacicedo, María Cristina, Cazoña, Nueva Montaña and Cueto centers will offer different options for these days and registration can be done at each center in person or by phone.
In Mercedes Cacicedo and María Cristina, the campuses have two time slots: from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., depending on the needs of the families.
For their part, in Cazoña, Nueva Montaña and Cueto, bilingual campuses will be organized with various activities through collaborating entities.
In the case of the telecentres, a program has been organized for young people between the ages of 8 and 12 from the city’s schools and institutes.
Under the title ‘Programming with Scratch, creating Mods with Mcreator and Forge for your Minecraft worlds’, there will be two hours to choose from: from 9:30 to 11:30 or from 12:00 to 14:00 in the following telecentres: Numancia, Tabacalera, Cazoña, San Roman and Camarreal
