Parker Finnthe filmmaker behind He used to smilea 2022 horror blockbuster, has signed with Paramount Pictures to produce new designs (via THR).
It’s unclear what’s next for Finn with the studio, but a sequel is expected to be within the signed deal. Finn will write, produce and direct new films in the horror genre.
Smile is Finn’s first feature film, inspired by his short film “Laura Hasn’t Slept”. At the worldwide box office, the film grossed over $216 million. In Brazil, it raised more than R$ 10 million at the box office and was watched by more than 600 thousand people, in two weeks of exhibition.
Starring Sosie Bacon, the film follows Dr. Rose Cotter, a doctor who begins to experience terrifying experiences that she cannot explain after witnessing a series of traumatic events with her patients. While Rose sees her life being taken over by horror situations, she will need to confront her troubled past to survive this new reality.
Jesse T Usher (The Boys), Rob Morgan (Stranger Things), Kyle Gallner (Scream) and Caitlin Stasey (All Cheerleaders Must Die) are also in the cast. Check out the trailer below:
