The director met the star at the 2023 Oscar nominees’ lunch and was full of praise for this one

Last Monday (13), there was a lunch for nominees for the Oscar 2023a traditional award season event, and one of the most memorable moments was the meeting between Steven Spielberg (“The Fabelmans”) and tom cruise (“Top Gun: Maverick”).

In a video that went viral on social media, Spielberg can be heard telling the actor: “You saved Hollywood and may have saved except the distribution (of films) in cinemas”, he said. “Seriously, “Top Gun: Maverick” may have saved the entire movie industry.”, finished. Check out the moment:

And let’s agree that Steven Speilberg is not lying since “Top Gun: Maverick” was the second film to raise more than US$ 1.48 billion (about R$7.6 billion) worldwide during the pandemic, becoming the eleventh highest-grossing film in history.
