The Weeknd is the most listened artist in the world

Canadian singer The Weeknd broke a huge record, establishing himself as the most popular artist in the world, according to Guinness World Records statistics.

According to new data, he is the first singer to reach 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, in addition to being the most listened artist in the world on the platform.

The new records of Abel Tesfaye, the artist’s real name, were announced by the publication on his official website, stating that the singer is far ahead of second place.

As of Tuesday (21), Tesfaye had 111.4 million monthly listeners worldwide on the platform, while Miley Cyrus, in second place, had 82.4 million, almost 30 million less.

Up to seventh place, all the artists on the podium of the most popular within Spotify are women – Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Rihanna. The closest man to The Weeknd is Ed Sheeran with 77.5 million.
