Programming includes films that celebrate Women’s Week.
Another week begins and with it a new selection of blockbusters on TV Globo’s afternoon schedule. Driven by the celebrations of Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, the station compiled hits that enhance strong women in the Afternoon Session.
To get excited, this Monday (6), Uma Prova de Amor will be shown from 15:30. In the sequence, Sandra Bullock will be the highlight with Miss Congeniality 2 – Armed and Powerful.
On Wednesday (8), Mulheres ao Poder will be the film to pack the schedule. Powerful, strong and based on true events, the film shows how a group of women made history by interrupting a beauty pageant in the 1970s.
The week’s schedule ends with O Maior Amor Do Mundo, a dramedy starring Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson, and A Compassola de Ouro, fiction based on the book of the same name by Philip Pullman.
A Proof Of Love (MONDAY, 06/03 – 15H30)
Since birth, Anna has undergone several medical procedures to help her older sister, Kate, who suffers from leukemia. Upon completing eleven years, Anna decides to face her parents, Sara and Brian Fitzgerald, and fight in court for her medical emancipation. Without revealing her true motives, she will rock the lives of the entire family.
Miss Simpatia 2 – Armada E Poderosa (TUESDAY, 07/03 – 15H30)
Having fought a threat in a Miss contest in the United States makes police officer Gracie Hart a real celebrity, which doesn’t like her very much, since her sudden fame prevents her from working undercover. Because of this, she is reassigned to perform the only function she can currently have within the police force: to travel the TV program circuit and be the “official face of the FBI”. Reluctant at first, little by little, Gracie starts to accept the idea better and even like the attention she receives. Called the “Agency Barbie”, especially by her new partner Sam Fuller, Gracie needs to get back on track when her friends Stan Fields, pageant presenter, and Cheryl Frazier, the beauty pageant winner she participated in, are kidnapped in Las Vegas. Not wanting to lose Gracie as the agency’s face, the FBI sends her to a press conference in Las Vegas, along with Sam, who has the job of being her bodyguard. Together they must solve the case.
Women to Power (WEDNESDAY, 08/03 – 15:30)
In Mulheres ao Poder, a feminist group interrupts the Miss World ceremony to criticize several relevant aspects of society, such as patriarchy, an unattainable aesthetic standard and female objectification. However, the movement is not the only surprise of the night. Model Jennifer Hosten (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) becomes the first black woman to win the contest. Based on a true story.
The Greatest Love in the World (THURSDAY, 03/09 – 15:30)
Follow the lives of different mothers on Mother’s Day. Sandy is happily divorced until she discovers her ex-husband has run off with a much younger woman. Now she must learn to deal with major changes in her life as her two children now have a stepmother. Sisters Jesse and Gabi receive an unexpected surprise from their mother, who is not happy to discover that Gabi is a lesbian and Jesse is married to a man of color. Miranda has no children and is focused on her career. Kristin is enjoying life as a new mother, but feels pressure from her boyfriend to get married. Bradley has been trying hard to be the best dad to his two daughters since their mother passed away last year, but he wants to pretend Mother’s Day doesn’t exist.
The Golden Compass (FRIDAY, 10/03 – 15:30)
Lyra Belacqua is an orphan who was raised at Oxford University. In the world in which she lives, every person has a “daemon”, that is, a manifestation of her own soul in animal form. Lyra leads a quiet life, until she and her daemon, Pantalaimon, discover the existence of a mysterious substance called “dust”. This has a strange effect on children, which makes religious authorities convinced that it represents evil. Following the mysterious Lord Asriel, her protector, Lyra sets out to find an answer. In London, she discovers that several children are disappearing, including Roger, her best friend. With the help of an ancient instrument that looks like a golden compass, she sets out on a journey that could change the world forever.
